Shopping and fun in Whitehorse.

We are excited to be in a city of some size because we all had long lists of grocery items and Wal-mart stuff that we needed.  We found a mediocre Wal-mart and a great grocery store, and took care of these needs.

After we got everything back to the rigs and put away, David, Jackie, and Steve went to see the Transportation Museum.  In front of the Museum is  the world's largest weathervane.  This is an original Canadian Pacific Airlines DC-3 that is mounted so perfectly on a pedestal that the slightest breeze causes it to swing around  to point into the wind.

The Museum itself held many interesting items.

Steve took these two for you, Rick!

An old Caterpillar.

A float plane fitted with skis for landing on snow to deliver

One of the barges that carried supplies up and down the Yukon.
In 1945 a twice weekly bus service was established between
Dawson Creek BC and Whitehorse YT.  It ran until 1945.
By the way, the buses had no heat!

While the rest of the group was at the museum, I ventured downtown in search of a post office.  I found one on picturesque Main St. and did a little shopping as well.   I found this statue with a caption that I loved!
Dedicated to all those who follow their dreams.
We had a wonderful evening at the Frantic Follies in Whitehorse.  A multi-talented cast presented an evening of Vaudeville song, dance, and comedy that had us cheering and applauding.  We all highly recommend this show if you are in Whitehorse.

And of course, the dogs have to be walked when we get home.   This photo was taken at about
11:15  PM--no flash or flashlight needed here in the land of the midnight sun.
